Boldwood Books

Continuing from the last blog (29 August 2025), we are now fully up and running with the republication of over twenty of Evelyn’s novels, allowing new audiences to enjoy her timeless classics.

‘A Widow’s Hope’ and ‘A Fisher Girl’s Destiny’ were published on schedule at the end of August 2025. (See our last blog, ‘A New Chapter Unfolds’ posted on 29th August 2025 for more information.)

‘Bonds of Friendship’ (formerly ‘A Matter of Mischief’) and ‘Hidden Family Secrets’ (formerly ‘The Silken Thread’) have been released at the end of September 2025.

It has been exciting to see the Evelyn Hood name again in print with fresh new jacket covers and revised titles, bringing a more contemporary appeal to the books while the stories and the characters themselves retain their timeless appeal. Each character is allowed to share their story again, and we find that their stories can inspire us all through our own life stories.

Evelyn always knew that a major appeal in her writing was that if her characters could overcome obstacles and challenges on them, so could the readers overcome their own obstacles and challenges. In short; if they can do it, so can I!

By escaping into another’s world, we are in fact able to disentangle our own world without realising. It may feel like escapism, but in many ways we are building our own resolve to navigate the world around us.

Boldwood Books has provided a lot of information through social media and their website (www.boldwoodbooks.com) to promote these books, and many people will have noticed pop-ups and links to find more information about the republished books.

Evelyn would be delighted to know that Boldwood Books has recognised the value of her writing, to invest a significant effort in making it available again to the world. I doubt she could have imagined all the social-media presence she would have, some two or three decades after the first release of these books, as technology has brought book publication and buying to a completely different level.

She would also be delighted that Boldwood has made her books available to libraries; Evelyn was always a very strong advocate for libraries and it is an honour to know that libraries will continue to have available the Boldwood titles as they are released.
