A New Chapter Unfolds

We have good reason to celebrate this day, 29th August 2025, as a new chapter unfolds in the life of Evelyn Hood novels. Just as I remember celebrating, as a young boy, my mother’s first publishing contract back in 1973, this day marks the publication of ‘A Widow’s Hope’ and ‘A Fisher Girls’ Destiny’ by Boldwood Books.

These two books, previously titled ‘Voices From the Sea’ and ‘Gold Round the Edges’ respectively, are the first two out of a total of twenty three books that are expected to be released by Boldwood Books over the coming twelve months.

Boldwood has recognised that the lives and stories of the characters in Evelyn’s books are timeless; while they were first published several years ago, the content within each book’s pages will never diminish. By republishing with new jacket covers and new titles, Boldwood is making these novels accessible to new audiences and granting the characters within the books a chance to relive their stories again and continue Evelyn’s legacy of informing and entertaining through reading.

The new versions of the books will be available through bookshops, digital media and will also be distributed to libraries. Libraries were always important to Evelyn, and she would be delighted that there will be a renewed opportunity for her books to be available on library shelves across the country.

Following ‘A Widow’s Hope’ and ‘A Fisher Girl’s Destiny’, the next two novels will be published on 30th September; ‘Bonds of Friendship’ (formerly ‘A Matter of Mischief’) and ‘Hidden Family Secrets’ (formerly ‘The Silken Thread’). The 31st October will see ‘The Housekeeper’s Promise’ (formerly ‘A Stranger to the Town’) and ‘The Defiant Seamstress (formerly ‘The Damask Days’). It is expected that two books will be published at the end of each month throughout the next year.

The bibliography on Evelyn’s website will be kept as up to date as possible, so please check this for the latest information. In addition, Boldwood has created an Evelyn Hood newsletter to which you can subscribe, and they will be providing publication information through their social media sites, making it very easy to keep up with everything you need to know about these wonderful republications.
