Boldwood Books Updates

The republication of 23 of Evelyn’s novels is now just over the halfway mark, with 14 titles released so far (as at March 2026) prompting a renewed interest in Evelyn’s novels.

The publishing world nowadays is very different from what it was when Evelyn first sat at a word-processor or typewriter and allowed the characters and stories to come to life through her hands on to the keyboard, so all the processes have evolved in this more technology-driven world.

When these books were first published, thousands of books would be printed and distributed to bookshops and libraries; readers would wait several months for the next book to be released. Press releases from publishers were highly anticipated as they kept everyone informed of upcoming events. In the current world of social media, information is shared rapidly and more universally via scrolling, sharing and clicking, where inboxes with links reach millions of people across the globe. Indeed, even the book contents can be accessed via technology without the use of print materials.

Evelyn would have loved seeing her stories are being shared again, in a world where publishing is so different. Her writings has found its way into our modern world, transporting us back in time; while the world has changed, the messaging from the books is as relevant as ever.

Her books have been described as timeless classics; even though our fast-changing environment continues to career through time, the messages and lessons that we learn from Evelyn’s books of comfort, resilience, community and survival bring a sense of peace and calm to many who need to know that it is possible to find such characteristics in a seemingly ever-turbulent world. Or to those who just want to escape their own daily lives.

Evelyn always stated that many of her books share a theme of survival; ‘if we read of someone else surviving in a challenging world, then I too can survive’, she stated once in a radio interview.

Boldwood Books have enabled readers to find Evelyn’s books across all platforms, so they  are easily found. In addition, the website is kept up to date, informing all readers of all publications.

With these republished titles, we hope that these wonderful books will provide enjoyable and insightful reading for readers for years to come. We also hope they will bring calm, solace and a sense of hope to a new generation of readers.
